Byron Bay Bluesfest

Kurt Vile & The Violators

Bluesfest is stoked to welcome Kurt Vile & The Violators to Bluesfest for the very first time.

The former The War On Drugs lead guitarist has forged a heady solo career and released his sixth studio album ‘b’lieve I’m going down’ in 2015. His latest release in 2017, ‘Lotta Sea Lice’, is a collaboration with our own Courtney Barnett. One of the most exciting artists around … make sure you are down front for the two shows on Thursday and Saturday at Bluesfest next Easter.

Multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and record producer grew up with the influences of the likes of Beck, Pavement, Neil Young, Tom Petty and John Fahey. The success of his solo work coincided with the success of The War On Drugs and he decided to forgo the band in favour of his solo career. No bad decision …. As his star has continued to rise … and his ensuing albums have garnered rave reviews. The single “Pretty Pimpin’” from his last album,’ b’lieve i'm goin down’ gave him his best chart success to date – and last years’ collaboration with our own Courtney Barnett ‘Lotta Sea Lice’ cemented this position in the Adult Alternative Scene.
Kurt Vile & The Violators play Thursday & Saturday at Bluesfest 2019.
