12 reasons to come to Bluesfest 2017

1. Bluesfest Exclusives

What do Jimmy Buffett, Mavis Staples, Buddy Guy, Beth Hart, Dumpstaphunk and The Suffers have in common? Aside from being astounding live performers you can ONLY see them at Bluesfest in 2017. Don’t miss this special opportunity to see these living legends, who knows when they’ll be back?

2. It’s fun for everyone in the family

Whatever your age there’s something at Bluesfest for you! We know how hard it can be to find activities that keep everyone entertained, but at Bluesfest kids, teenagers, Mum, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa (and everyone in between) bonds over their shared love of music.

3. Our beautiful location

Bluesfest is a short drive away from the Idyllic Byron Bay, so you can enjoy Australia’s premier festival as well as paradise!

4. New discoveries

We love hearing each and every year about all the new musical discoveries people have at the festival! Last year St Paul and The Broken Bones and Rhiannon Giddens had the festival truly buzzing, who will be this year’s break out act? We can’t wait to find out.

5. Eat, sleep, rock, repeat – all on our beautiful festival site!

Camping allows you to stay right in the middle of the action, so you don’t have to worry about getting the bus home or driving at night! We have a range of accommodation options available, click here for more info.

6. The line-up

We have already announced so many artists, but we are not done yet! With big names coming like, Santana, Zac Brown Band, Mary J. Blige, The Lumineers and Courtney Barnett the festival is already chock-a-block with some of the world’s greatest artists!

7. Value for money

5 day tickets are currently $620, which works out to just $124 per day, a bargain when you consider that a single ticket to many concerts costs that much or more! For $620 you can enjoy over 50 hours of music by dozens of incredible local and international artists, that’s just $11 per hour! Beware though, that some ticket types are selling very fast and can be taken off sale without any notification/warning. Check out all our ticket prices right here.

8. Find a treasure in one of the beautiful stalls on site

You can go shopping! Bluesfest market stalls showcase clothing, jewellery and a wide range of wares from all over the world, there is also a number of locally made items that will be your perfect keepsake from your favourite festival.

9. The great Australian artists!

Bluesfest is known for its incredible array of International talent but there are also some awesome Aussie acts on the bill, don’t miss Courtney Barnett, Experience Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Lang, Ray Beadle and The Silver Dollars, Lloyd Spiegel and Glen Cardier and the Sideshow (plus more to come!)

10. Patti Smith and Her Band – final Australian festival performances

Australian audiences have been waiting 8 years for Patti Smith to return, and she is making it well worth our wait with HUGE Bluesfest performances planned. In what will be their final Australian festival shows, Patti and Her Band will play their seminal record Horses on Thursday 13 April, and a special acoustic performance on Friday 14 April. Her acoustic sets are powerful, engrossing and mesmeric, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy some of her more poetic and tender songs along with some surprising covers.

11. Festival fashion

We love seeing the amazing outfits Bluesfest goers put together! The effort some go to is inspiring and we can’t wait to see what you will rock out in this year.

12. The glorious food

There is always a huge selection of food stalls at Bluesfest to suit a variety of cravings, whether it is sushi, dumplings, noodles, pizza or one of the famous Byron Bay Organic donuts for those of you with a sweet tooth!

Bluesfest honoured by international music industry giants Billboard and Pollstar

International music industry giants Billboard and Pollstar have named Bluesfest among the best music festivals in the world. Bluesfest has come in at number 7 on Billboard’s list of top musical festivals, and is the only Australian entry in the top 10.

Bluesfest is also proud to report that for the 5th year in a row, and the 7th time overall Bluesfest has been nominated in the prestigious 2016 Annual Pollstar Awards in the category of ‘International Music Festival of the Year’. Bluesfest has been recognised alongside international festival heavyweights The Barclaycard British Summer Time Hyde Park (UK), The Glastonbury Festival (UK), Lollapalooza Berlin (Germany), Primavera Sound (Spain) and Rock Werchter (Belgium).

Bluesfest is especially honoured to be the only Australian festival nominated in the last decade. The 28th Annual Pollstar Awards will be held on the 2nd of February 2017 at The Novo in Los Angeles. The Pollstar Awards honour artists, management, talent buyers, venues, support services and more for their professionalism, achievements and abilities. Winners are determined by votes from agents, managers and promoters of concerts around the world.

Peter Noble, Bluesfest Director, responds to the Pollstar nomination!

Bluesfest is proud to be nominated for the prestigious Pollstar award (to be held on the 2nd of February in Los Angeles) for the 5th year in a row! We are in good company alongside Glastonbury once again – they are the only other festival to receive as many nominations this decade.

This accolade is awarded by our industry peers, who we would like to thank for their ongoing support. Now let’s knock off the Holy Grail and see this award won by someone outside the UK for the first time in history!

Fingers crossed, but I’m not holding my breath.

Peter Noble
