Festival Director Peter Noble shares his excitement about this weeks Festival!
“When the week of Bluesfest is rolling on, you can almost slice the vibe with a knife. Everyone is excited and getting ready to be on a 5 day natural high starting this Thursday.
The site is ready, the artists are in the region, and many have already played shows in Australia and New Zealand - check out some of the reviews.
New Zealand's top reviewer Graham Reid said of Beth Hart's show in Auckland a few days ago...."I'd go and see her again tomorrow". And guess what you actually can see Beth twice at Bluesfest.
Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals warm-up up shows at The Fillmore in San Francisco last week had fans in raptures.
Check out their set list right here
This is going to be triumphant, because there is something magical that happens when Ben Harper plays Bluesfest. It the only Australian show - don't dare miss it.
Ben & The innocent Criminals lit up Bluesfest almost 20 years ago now, and put us on the path to become the festival we are today. I am honoured beyond words that he chose Bluesfest to present the Innocent Criminals festival reformation debut for the first time in the world. And you are going to hear one of the world's great bands rejuvenated and red hot from all the reports I am hearing.
Both Brittany Howard, the charismatic lead singer, from The Alabama Shakes and Hozier are on the front cover of the American music industry bible, Billboard Magazine this week, along with a report on their upcoming performances at the Coachella festival week after this. Of course they are being presented as THE 2 hot picks to blow the roof off Coachella this year - why, because they are.
AND, who gets to see BOTH of them play TWICE a whole week before they play there - you know it, you do at Bluesfest. They are simply don't miss artists.
There is so much else going on at this year’s Bluesfest, yes, you ARE not going to be able to see everything, however please check out some of our smaller stages. Although when you arrive, you are going to see they are not so small this year. This is where many of the best performances occur, where major artists of the future, and legends shine. It truly is what sets Bluesfest apart, and it happens right from the first performances every day.
We have one of our killer line-ups - even with a re-shuffle and tickets are selling brilliantly. Thank you so much for continuing to believe
I can't wait to see you this week.”
Peter Noble, Festival Director.

Bluesfest Artists Hozier and Alabama Shakes frontwoman Brittany Howard grace the cover of Billboard!
There is not one, but TWO incredible musicians who will be making their Bluesfest debut’s later this week on the current cover of the industry bible Billboard Magazine.
Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Andrew Hozier is set to delight audiences with his raw & captivating performance at CROSSROADS on Thursday & MOJO on Saturday. His poetic susceptibility to romance and romantic dreaming has resonated with the masses, as seen with the phenomenal success of ‘Take me to Church’ and his self-titled debut album - breaking chart and sales records all around the world.
Grammy nominated, NPR Artists of the Year, US roots-rockers Alabama Shakes draw in the audience with their magnetic stage presence and music that’s aching when it’s slow, and growling and whooping when it’s fast. Raw, rootsy, honest and great rock’n’roll; Share the love with Alabama Shakes in the MOJO tent on Friday & Saturday.

Festival Director Peter Noble Reports On The West Coast Blues N’ Roots Festival
Our Festival Director Peter Noble got a taste of just some of the magic we will be experiencing at Bluesfest this week whilst attending the West Coast Blues n’ Roots Festival held on Sunday 29th March.
Just one of the magic moments at the West Coast Blues N' Roots was Charles Bradley and Mavis Staples catching up back stage - check out the beautiful pic on the right!
Find out what to expect on some of our Bluesfest artists from the Festival Director himself right here:
“Nice day - 10,000 plus attendance. I got there in time to see Beth Hart's show - she started at 12.30pm and absolutely blitzed the audience. I'm sure she won't ever start that early again on this festival. The band is in fine form and everyone is really into delivering a show that is stunning.

Mavis Staples performed a high energy set and the audience loved the show.

Xavier Rudd now has a big band of 7 musicians. They tore it up and will be amazing at Bluesfest. They have an indigenous vibe, and this is an adventurous project, which his many fans are loving.
XAVIER RUDD & THE UNITED NATIONS PERFORM @ BLUESFEST ON SUN 5th APRIL!
My first major surprise was Keb Mo. The band is on ESP - pure musical magic is occurring - and I have NEVER heard Keb sound so good (and he has always been seriously good). His new songs sound great and he is playing ELECTRIC guitar and is killing it - what a great guitarist! The audience went crazy. He is on a career high and is a don't miss artist this year.

Rodrigo y Gabriela ignited the audience and backstage Rodrigo's skills with a Soccer ball are something to see.
RODRIGO Y GABRIELA PERFORM @ BLUESFEST ON SAT 4th & SUN 5th APRIL!
Paul Kelly's Merri Soul Sessions was an absolute crowd favourite -and he had the biggest crowd of the afternoon, although Xavier Rudd also had a lot of people in front of his stage. Everyone loved the artists performing with Paul. Dan Sultan was perhaps the favourite, however with Clairy Browne, Vika & Linda Bull & Kira Puru, he was in hot company.

And now we come to the unstoppable force that is Jimmy Cliff. Of course he did the greatest performance of the day, he is simply stunning - as good as it gets - every song is brilliant, the dancing, the musicianship - I just cannot find the words to say how brilliant - an absolute highlight. I have now seen Jimmy perform 4 or 5 times. I will not miss a performance by him again when I can attend and he is simply as good as it gets. Seriously. Definitely. Incredible.
JIMMY CLIFF PERFORMS @ BLUESFEST ON THU 2nd & Fri 3rd APRIL!
David Gray had a huge audience and the biggest so far on the day. He is no longer just a person who sits at the piano and does great songs. He has a show, and for many, was the best artist to play on the day. A simply don't miss artist at the top of his game, and one who is sure to ignite the audience at Bluesfest.
DAVID GRAY PERFORMS @ BLUESFEST ON SAT 4th APRIL!
There was an air of excitement in the audience waiting for Paolo Nutini, and he delivered a show they loved when he went on stage.
PAOLO NUTINI PERFORMS @ BLUESFEST ON FRI 3rd & SAT 4th APRIL!
Jurassic 5 in many ways delivered the surprise performance of the night. They delivered with a capital D - the audience was perhaps the loudest all day in voicing their appreciation for their MC ing skills and great show - BUT, not too much louder that Jimmy Cliff's. They are going to be one of the don't miss artists playing Bluesfest this year.
JURASSIC 5 PERFORMS @ BLUESFEST ON THU 2nd & SUN 5th APRIL!
I didn't go over to the stages for the final shows from George Clinton's Parliament Funkadelic - however I heard them , and they are Funkin' it up as hard as ever. George is in fine form and was regal back stage - as the King of Funk, that he truly is.”
