Celebrating International Women’s Day

To celebrate International Women’s Day we have highlighted five very relevant anthems from five Bluesfest women. We know there are more songs like this …  we know that every woman has their own anthem they carry in their heart and soul, but we hope these five stunning performances can empower you even more 💜

Missy Higgins・’TOTAL CONTROL’

A stunning female anthem from 1979 and the Motels’ Martha Davis, ‘Total Control’ is the title track from MISSY HIGGIN’s new mini-album, and also the title of the ABCTV drama series for which she wrote the songs.

The Waifs・’LIES’

In this politically charged year with all sorts of stories emanating, this song from THE WAIFS challenges the fine line between the truth… and otherwise!

Kasey Chambers・’Not Pretty Enough/ I Ain’t No Little Girl’ Live

Two of KASEY CHAMBERS’ most powerful songs – the first delivered as a tribute to Kasey as she became the youngest solo female artist to be inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame, by other Bluesfest luminaries Missy Higgins and Kate Miller-Heidke together with Amy Sheppard; the second from Kasey herself,  with power & passion (and Paul Kelly as a guest)… 3 of the 4 guests are at Bluesfest – might we see this re-created on Bluesfest Saturday.

Kate Miller -Heidke・’You’ve Underestimated Me, Dude’

The song title says it all! Go Kate!… see you at Bluesfest on Saturday.

Renee Geyer・’It’s A Man’s World’

Delight in the pure vocal genius of one of our living legends, RENEE GEYER, as she gives this James Brown cover the full treatment.  Soul, emotion, passion, power… topped with that unique and legendary Geyer magic. We can’t wait to see her on Bluesfest Sunday.
