Take 5 with Kam Franklin from The Suffers. Discover The Soundtrack To Her Life

30 November 2016

Their performance at New Orleans Jazzfest 2016 was hailed as one of the best of the event. And now it’s Bluesfest turn in 2017. The Suffers are coming this Easter for the first time. We took five minutes to catch up with Kam Franklin from The Suffers about the soundtrack to her life!

What is the one song that reminds you of growing up and why?

"Dammit" by Blink 182

They literally say " I guess this growing up" throughout the song, but the reason I love it is because this song just tells what happens after a breakup when both sides decide to be civil. It's hard, but it has to be done.

What is the song/s that’s always busted out when no one is around - why?

"Sweet Thang" by Chaka Khan

It's one of those songs that just makes my soul feel good!

What song gives you goosebumps everytime you hear it?

"Since I've Been Loving You"- Led Zeppelin

What is the song or album on high rotation in your car at the moment?

I'm in love with Chance The Rapper's "Coloring Book" album, as well as Anderson Paak's "Malibu".

What was your wedding song (or what would it be)?

"Island in the Sun"- Weezer

Your favourite song/s to cover at the moment?

We like a little bit of everything, but recently, we had a lot of fun covered "All Night Long" by The Mary Jane Girls

If you could sing a duet with anyone dead or alive who would it be and what would be the song?

I always had a fantasy about covering "Fire and Desire" with the late great Prince. I'd want to do Rick James' parts, and Prince would sing Tenna Marie's.

Your all time Blues hero is….why?

There's too many to list, but for now, we'll say Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughn

The Suffers perform at Bluesfest 2017 on Thursday 13th April , Friday 14th April, and Sunday 16th April and Monday 17th April.
