Take 5 with Jake Shimabukuro - Discover The Soundtrack To His Life!

28 September 2016

Jake Shimabukuro takes 5 minutes to share with us some of the artists and songs that have shaped his life! A Bluesfest favourite, Hawaiian ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro is returning in 2017, bringing material from his latest album ‘Nashville Sessions’, set for release in September.

What is the one song that reminds you of growing up and why?

Probably "My Way" by Frank Sinatra. I was pretty stubborn as a kid.

What is the song that get you on the dance floor everytime?

I would have to say "The Electric Slide" because that's the only song I know all the moves to.

What is the song on high rotation in your car at the moment?

I've been listening to "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley.

What was your wedding song (or what would it be)?

I actually wrote a song for my wife and sang it to her at the reception. It was horrible though. I can't sing.

Your favourite song to cover at the moment?

Bohemian Rhapsody.

If you could sing a duet with anyone dead or alive who would it be and what would be the song?

Neil Diamond - "Sweet Caroline".

Your all time Blues hero is….why?

Gary Moore - nobody plays the blues like that guy.

Jake Shimabukuro performs at Bluesfest on Saturday 15th April and Easter Sunday in 2017 and is touring to Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney & Brisbane. All the details here.
