We hope you’ve been keeping cool, and enjoying the first few weeks of the New Year. It’s hard to believe but Bluesfest 2017 is only 83 days away! The response to last week’s announcement that Jimmy Buffett will be playing on Friday evening was amazing.  This e-card to you is truly jam-packed with so much interesting information; please do read all of it right to the bottom, where we announce the winner of the ‘Favourite Bluesfest Picture' competition and of course don't miss what our Festival Director Peter Noble has to say. Enjoy!

Some of our favourite Jimmy Buffett reviews are:

From Facebook:

right

Paul Squires - Well done blues fest. Was raised a parrot head by my old man and thought the opera house was the last time we would see him in oz. yewwww can't wait

Maya Seale-Michel - Best best best best news! I've waited 27 years for him to come to the Bluesfest. I've seen him so many times and his shows are the most fun of all. Thank you Bluesfest Byron Bay !

Belle Donald - Good score! Jimmy Buffett 70 going on 17. His Chrissy gig on USTV "Today" beat all the other performers hands down. So still got it and doubtless still raucously hilarious. You lucky audience dudes

Ian Anderson - Maybe.. just maybe the best line up ever..."Just saying,,”

From The Bluesfest Forum:

right

rexrose - 2 of my favorite places on the planet are Byron at Easter and Margaritaville anytime. So getting them both together I couldn't be happier.

Flegal08 - Fantastic announcement, I have been a fan since the 80's, haven't been able to see him, so will be in the audience wearing my Hawaiian shirt and flip flops. Thank you everyone at Bluesfest.

Marie5 - He has been on my Buffett list (ha!ha!) for such a long time. Friends of mine saw him in the States not too long ago and said one of the best ever performances they have seen. Great work Bluesfest team. Can't wait

Some wise words from your Festival Director Peter Noble

Happy Blue(s) Year!

This E-card will update you with more information for Bluesfest 2017.

We currently have our highest ticket sales ever, and with more announcements to come, are looking at perhaps, our biggest year yet.

Our VIP area is basically sold out, the campgrounds are filling, and our allocation of 3 day tickets for the Friday / Saturday / Sunday is all but ’almost’ sold out.

Also going strong are the 3 day tickets for the two other allocations beginning Thursday and Saturday, as well as one day tickets and season Five day tickets.

I am in Africa currently (Ghana at the moment), the music coming from here is just AMAZING, an incredible mix of West African styles, from Highlife to Afro Beat, combined with US Rap / R&B and Hip Hop influences plus Jamaican styles. I hope to be bringing artists from here to future Bluesfests. I will be in London next week, meeting with agents, then Glasgow for the world's biggest Celtic Music Festival, Celtic Connections. Then it’s over to Los Angeles for the Pollstar Convention and Awards.

Bluesfest has been nominated for 'Worlds Best International Music Festival' at the Pollstar Awards for an incredible fifth time in a row. We are deeply honoured to be nominated for the seventh time all up for an award where the nominations and votes come from our peers around the world in the live music industry. We are the only Australian festival to be nominated in a decade now! We are up against big guns such as The Glastonbury Festival, it's going to be hard to win, but we will never say die and one day we will win this prestigious award! Considering all the other events are SO MUCH bigger than ours, with so much more buying power, I am humbled by how the international live music industry rates Bluesfest.

Our Jimmy Buffett exclusive announcement last week, has enthused his fans, many of whom have bought tickets from around Australia, and indeed the world, and the large jump in our ticket sales shows us that we have made a good pick in a difficult situation. No one artist can replace another, in the mind of a true fan when they cancel. We understand that here at Bluesfest. We STILL don't know why Neil Young cancelled his confirmed appearance at Bluesfest. We realise this is a source of frustration and even anger for a number of his fans.

Bluesfest didn't cancel the performance; I need to remind you of that.

So please don't insult Jimmy Buffett’s fans for rejoicing about his appearance, maybe you should post on Neil Young's socials and you can vent your feelings there. An artist has a responsibility to his fans in my opinion, and should hold them in the highest regard.

We look forward to presenting Neil one day in the future.

We will offer a refund for one day Friday ticket buyers until Wednesday the 25th of January 5pm AEDT, as long as you bought your ticket after we announced Neil.

There are so many other artists coming this year. It's one of our best bills yet in my opinion.

So many legends, so many next big things, so many discoveries.

Can't wait to see you there.

Peace,

Peter Noble

Friday Single Day refund deadline!

right_alternate

There has been a lot of back and forth about Jimmy Buffett being the replacement artist for Friday Night and the answer is yes.

Although, the real question is, can you ever really replace any artist on our Bluesfest line-up?

We know now - more than ever before - that no artist can actually replace another. They are all irreplaceable and Jimmy Buffett is a wonderful addition to our already incredible line-up. We apologise for any misunderstanding caused.

Note: any single day Friday tickets purchased after the 5th October, 2016 to 2nd December, 2016 will only be eligible for a refund or exchange until Wednesday 25th of January.

Please contact the office on (02) 6685 8310 or tickets@bluesfest.com.au to apply for a refund, should you wish to refund or change your single day Friday ticket to another day.

Please know that there are further artist announcements coming and some nice surprises will be added - rest assured of that.

Hi Bluesfest Team!
Here's a picture of our little gang from Bluesfest 2007 chaining our bikes up at the entrance to Red Devil Park at Byron Bay. We called ourselves the "Rusta Riders", notice the bikes painted in rusta colours.
This was my introduction to Bluesfest and i've been to many since, see you in 2017!
