Bluesfest wins 2010 Australian Event of the Year!

Massive Milestone Celebration!

12 May 2009

Bluesfest 2009 wraps up its 20th Birthday with the world’s finest musicians and 85,000 fans.

A total of 5 incredible days of Blues and Roots music from all over Australia and the world came to an end at Belongil Fields on Easter Monday, capping off a 20th Anniversary birthday party of infectiously good music and signature Bluesfest spirit.

We would like to thank you all for coming. The weather gods were not quite on our side this year, but it did not stop the fun! A record 71 truckloads of wood chip and blue metal were put to the ground across the weekend to keep fighting the muddy battle.

Weather aside, our 2009 Festival is up there with the most successful Bluesfest events of recent years, with approximately 85,000 fans from a total of 25 countries and states & territories of Australia walking through the entry gates over five days of blues, rock and roll, alt-country, world, soul, reggae, funk, Latino and roots music.

Fittingly, the 20th birthday anniversary event, Bluesfest 2009 represents the first time that Director Peter Noble has presented the event as its sole owner.

Peter, by the way, has not taken a break yet and is currently in the US already working on next year's Bluesfest artist bill. Go Peter!!!

For 2010, Council approvals permitting, we are really looking forward to staging our 21st Bluesfest at our new home on the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm - 10 mins north of Byron Bay.

2010 will be even greener, even more positive and even more culturally and environmentally aware festival, so see you next year for the 21st anniversary event!

Thank you again to you all. There would be no Bluesfest without you!
