Take 5 with Paul Janeway - St Paul and The Broken Bones. Discover the Soundtrack To His Life

4 October 2016

The charismatic lead singer Paul Janeway from St Paul and The Broken Bones takes 5 minutes to share with us some of the music and artists that have shaped his life and musical career.

What is the one song that reminds you of growing up and why?

“It is Well With My Soul” always brings back so good memories. It is a really good hymn.

What is the song/s that get you on the dance floor everytime?

Well I don’t go dancing really but Outkast’s “So Fresh, So Clean” will definitely get me moving no matter what.

What is the song/s that’s always busted out when no one is around - why?

Probably Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle”. I don’t want to bust that out when kids are around but I love the song.

What is the album on high rotation in your car at the moment?

I am an albums guy so the album I have been playing constantly is Angel Olsen’s My Woman.

What was your wedding song (or what would it be)?

My wife and I did our first dance to Sam Cooke’s “Nothing Can Change This Love”.

Your favourite song/s to cover at the moment?

My favourite cover that we are doing right now is Radiohead’s “National Anthem”. It is fun to throw that at our audience

If you could sing a duet with anyone dead or alive who would it be and what would be the song?

Kermit the Frog and the song would have to be “Rainbow Connection”.

Your all time Blues hero is….why?

For straight Blues music it would be Howlin’ Wolf. I love the grit he sang with.
