Tribali (Malta)

Bluesfest 2010 is proud to present a band you are just going to love. Tribali are a group of Maltese musicians who came together to celebrate their love of world music. They released their self-titled debut album in May 2006 and secured their position as Malta's leading artists by charting and sustaining the number one position for several months. Tribali release their second album The Elephants of Lanka in April 2009. It was reviewed in Songlines magazine in June 2009, and received four stars. Tribali were awarded Best Band, Best Album, Best Image, and Best CD Cover at the Malta Music Awards 2009. They channel an eclectic mix of musical influences into their unique sound, including world music, reggae, pop, rock, classical and jazz. Tribali’s diverse range of instruments embraces percussion, flute, didgeridoo and sitar whilst the accompanying vocals complete the whole sonic vibe. Their powerful stage presence is further energised by their dramatic use of visuals. Whilst placing great emphasis on ethnic rhythms, Tribali incorporate the beauty and pathos of music from the orient.
