Josh White Jr

Josh White Jr. is an acclaimed folk/blues, pop and jazz vocalist, guitarist and songwriter as well as an actor, adult and children's concert performer and recording artist, teacher and social activist. Josh White, Jr. was 4 years old when he began performing with his father, Josh White, the famed singer, guitarist, actor and social leader. It was 1944 and the venue was New York's Café Society, America's first integrated nightclub. Josh went on to perform and record with his father for the next seventeen years on radio, television and in Broadway shows, concert halls and nightclubs around the world. By 1961 Josh had already guest starred in more than 50 American television dramas, and co-starred with his father in Great Britain on The Josh White Show. As he approached his 21st birthday, the folk revival had begun and Josh hit the road alone to pursue his career as a singer/guitarist. His solo career took off with the 1962 hit "Do You Close Your Eyes", and he has been recording and touring ever since. Josh White Jr has appeared on countless television variety and talk shows around the world and performed on some the world's great stages, including Carnegie Hall, Berlin Philharmonic Hall and Madison Square Garden. In 1983 Josh Jr. received rave reviews for his performance in the theatrical biography of his father "Josh: The Man & His Music", written and directed by Broadway veteran Peter Link. Every few years Josh Jr. reprises the play on the road with great success and is proud to maintain the image, story and songs of his father. The Philadelphia Inquirer says "White has the harmonic finesse of a jazz performer, and his style is still one of the most recognizable and polished sounds in all folk music."
