Ross Wilson's 5 Decades Of Cool

As the energetic creative force behind era defining bands Mondo Rock and Daddy Cool, Ross Wilson practically defines the term Australian music legend! And now, following stellar performances in Sydney and Melbourne, Bluesfest is proud to present a very special tribute to ‘Mr Eagle Rock’ with Ross Wilson's Five Decades Of Cool. Picture this: a multi-media concert featuring film, light show and guest star musicians from every facet of Ross’ extraordinary career – you’re just gonna love this folks. The excellent band of musicians and past and current collaborators joining Ross Wilson on guitar and vocals includes John McAll (keyboards, musical director), Chris Paraha (bass), Haydn Meggitt (drums) and Stuart ‘Chet’ Fraser (guitar). Extra special guests include the Wolfgram Sisters (vocals), Ross Hannaford (guitar), Eric McCusker (guitar) and James Black (keyboards). Ross’ career all began in 1964 with garage punk outfit The Pink Finks at the tender age of 16, and then he entrenched himself in the Australian music psyche as a singer, writer and producer of some of the country’s best known and most loved songs. Ross’ prolific 80’s catalogue, including Mondo Rock’s ‘Cool World’, ‘A Touch of Paradise’ and ‘Come Said the Boy’ could only be overshadowed by the magnitude of his 70’s catalogue which exploded the shackles of international music trends and helped Australian music become recognised in its own right. In one of the most prosperous times in Australian rock music history, Ross Wilson and Daddy Cool set the bar high; however Ross’ production on Skyhooks ground breaking album Living in the 70’s pushed expectations even higher. He continues to achieve success into the 21st Century with his songs being recorded by artists as diverse as Jimmy Barnes, You Am I, John Farnham, and The Wiggles!  Ever prolific, Ross himself has a new album recorded in Nashville with ex-pat Ozzie producer Mark Moffatt set for release in 2010. At Bluesfest, you’ll get the chance to hear it all and experience this very special show described by Brian Wise from radio 3RRR as simply, “Outstanding. The concert of the year.”
